Staining after miscarriage

I had a miscarriage 2 months ago and soon after my D&C I ovulated and had a period. During my shiva nikiyim I had dark brown stain which was left over blood that had not come out from the D&C. I finally went to the Mikva 3 days ago. Today I found a large amount of dark brown stain on my colored underwear. It is very possible that this too is left over from my miscarriage but no tests have been done to confirm. Am I a niddah again? Does the large brown stain render me a niddah?

Dear questioner,

Thank you for your question.

We are sorry to hear of your micarriage.

When a woman has staining on colored underwear without a hargashah (sensation of menses), that staining does not make her niddah.  This is the case even when there is a likelihood of uterine bleeding, as following a miscarriage.  Therefore, based on what you write, your staining did not make you niddah.  Please see the articles on staining in the "Becoming Niddah" section of our site for more information.
